Join me. Two small words was all it took to launch the unexpected.
When British writer Danny Wallace put out a simple - and vague - print ad in 2002, little did he know that it would explode into a massive phenomenon. The ad simply said, "Join me" and asked people to mail a passport sized photograph to his P.O. Box address. There was no explanation, no reason given.
Fast forward to a few months later, Wallace has a large collection of passport sized photos of strangers in his possession and a number of 'members' questioning his purpose. Thing is, he has no purpose. Blank.
Feeling the pressure to provide a valid reason to this group of willing individuals, he eventually, after a discussion with some of its members, decided to gather everyone to perform random acts of kindness at least once a week. Simple as that.
Today, Join Me boasts of members from all walks of life worldwide, all united in one purpose: to do good.
"It's not a cult," Wallace wrote in his book about the accidental movement, "It's a collective."
Koolred is geared up to be an up-and-coming online presence in Asia for a collective of individuals to connect, share and bond together. That's the main purpose of this social network site. Plain and simple.
It allows like-minded individuals to band together in the name of their passion - be it fast cars, fashion or food, Johnny Depp or Jessica Alba. You name it, you'll find a group you belong. Can't find one? Take lead and create a group! It's so easy. Besides, you might start a mini collective of your own there.
What's unexpected about Koolred? That, we'll leave as a surprise for later. Just keep an eye on this blog. Believe you me it's something fun for all to enjoy.
Join Koolred. Join the gang.
