Travel Buddies

Brian Xang, 29, from Macau is not keen on travelling alone. His usual travel partner (big sister Celine) is unable to accompany him this time around. His destination: The island of Penang in Malaysia.

It’s his first time there and he is not keen on walking the streets alone and having no one to take a picture with. Also he is not looking forward to eating alone and having no one to share a beer with.

Enter Travel Buddies.

A world where you can go online and search for suitable travellers to …well travel with!

Brian logs into Koolred.com and immediately goes to the Travel Section. There he gets to the page on Malaysia and keys in his travel dates and his intended destination to Penang. He also goes one step further and fills out the ‘I want a Travel Buddy’ section. He then goes thru a list of travel habits and ticks the boxes which best describe his travelling habits.

For example, Brian is someone who likes to sleep in and do all his travelling after lunch right past midnight.

‘I wake up only when it’s time for lunch’ – check

Brian doesn’t believe in splurging on his holiday accommodation and likes to sleep in airports if it can save him some $$$.

Narrowing down your travel habits, gives other members an idea as to what type of traveller you are.

Alternatively, Brian can do a quick search for all travel buddies headed to Malaysia. From there he will know if anyone is headed to Penang including the dates they are travelling on as well as get a glimpse into their profile.

Brian managed to find a travel buddy from Singapore who was keen to visit Penang at around the same time as him. They are now ‘friends’ on Koolred and have started making their travel plans.
